Meet Courtney Zimmerman

Courtney Zimmerman is the founder and head trainer of Sterling Performance Equine, where her passion for developing exceptional horses has grown into a focused performance program. With a background in equine science and hands on experience under established reined cow horse professionals, Courtney has built her program around purposeful training, strong foundations and attention to detail.

Having the privilege of working alongside Taylor Gillespie, a distinguished NRCHA reined cow horse trainer, she has cultivated a deep understanding of the art of horsemanship. The invaluable mentorship has shaped her approach to horse training with an emphasis not only on the technical proficiency, but the connection between rider and horse.

Her approach is simple, develop the horse in front of you, never compromise on the fundamentals, and always strive to leave the horse better than you found it. Courtney is committed to producing confident, competitive horses and riders while maintaining the integrity and horsemanship that defines Sterling Performance Equine.

Meet Aaliyah Matzek

Aaliyah is an integral part of the Sterling Performance Equine team, working alongside Courtney in the day to day development of horses and riders. As an apprentice, she assists with lessons and training while continuing to develop her own horsemanship under Courtney's guidance.

Aaliyah's dedication, strong work ethic and her willingness to learn have made her an important part of the program. She is actively building her experience both in and out of the show pen while maintaining her Amateur and Non Pro Status in both NRHA and AQHA associations. Her riding opportunities are structured specifically to support her continued development without compromising eligibility as a competitor.

We believe in developing the next generation of horsemen and women, and Aaliyah is just getting started.
